Our Chair, our friend, a strong community leader This week, we experienced the tremendous loss of a profound leader in our community and a part of our Chamber family, Rich Beal. Rich passed away unexpectedly on Monday. Rich was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 2017 and became the 5th generation of the family to lead A.W. Perry, Inc., a commercial and residential real estate investment firm. Those who knew Rich, knew how he enthusiastically carried on the company traditions of philanthropy, stewardship, and community engagement. He believed that the company’s success was tied to the well-being of the communities where they operated. We worked more closely with Rich in his role as the Chair of our South Shore Economic Development Corporation, and as a longtime advocate for the area. He was a pillar in our South Shore 2030 Plan and had a true vision for his home, the South Shore. He was excited to help shape and build a stronger, more economically competitive region. More than that, he was kind, smart, thoughtful -- we will forever be grateful for his contributions, his thought leadership, and his commitment to making our community better for generations to come. To Rich’s family and his colleagues at A.W. Perry, the Chamber extends its deepest sympathy. To Rich, we affectionately say thank you for the difference you made. You will be missed.
