How and when did the company get started?
A new time, a new name.
On December 1st, our organization – which is more than 100 years old -- will have a new name: Croí Health. The name NVNA and Hospice reflects our past. The name Croí Health takes us into the future, reflecting all that we do, and our commitment to growth. This is not a merger or an acquisition. Just a new name.

Why are we changing our name?  
Over the past 17 years since “Hospice” was added to our name, we have grown our services to include palliative care, open the Pat Roche Hospice Home, and expand our service territory to 27 towns in our region. Our goal is for our brand to represent the scope of care we offer today and not limit ourselves as our service offerings continue to grow. 

What does Croí mean? 
Croí (pronounced “CROY”) is inspired by the Gaelic word for "heart.” As Croí Health, we will still be the same non-profit organization you have always known, dedicated to expanding patient care access while maintaining the clinical excellence our patients and community have come to expect from us.

Croí Health offers home health care, palliative care, home hospice services, and hospice care at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham. We support an average daily census of 1,200 patients across 27 South Shore communities.

We’re the largest, independent, nonprofit home healthcare system in the region.

Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber?
Our organization has been a chamber member for decades. During COVID, Renee McInnes, CEO of Croí Health, played the critical role of Board Chair for two consecutive terms, calmly informing membership of the pandemic’s impact on our regional healthcare systems and the community at large.

How and when did the company get started?
In February of 2020, at an interview to be a salon manager, I spontaneously asked about purchasing their mobile grooming van and less than a month later on March 9th of 2020, I was on the road. Less than two weeks after my opening day, all non-essential businesses were shut down due to the Covid 19 Quarantine. With no other way to reach the community, I took to social media advocating for pets, providing tips, tricks, and tools for pet owners to use while all services were closed due to the mandated shutdown.

What products or services do you offer?
Groom With Me is one-on-one luxury pet grooming in a crate-free facility with private grooming rooms. We focus on calm, assertive energy to provide quality grooming, training, advocacy, and wellness with patience, compassion, attention to detail, and love that you have been looking for your pet.

What’s the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors and why?
Groom With Me is known for being crate-free, providing quality grooming with quality products and service in a timely fashion. Not only do we service dogs, but also cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and even parrots. We have been able to rehabilitate even the most nervous, aggressive, or reactive pets and even allow parents to accompany their pets to make the transition easier.

Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business.
Something interesting about my business is that it started because I was a paralegal studying for the LSATs and struggling with how much time I was spending away from my kids. So, I picked up my grooming skills to help some neighbors, and then I worked for someone for a short while before realizing I had what it takes to create something successful on my own. I helped enough neighbors and friends to fill my weeks and then months and years! 2 fun tidbits are that during quarantine, I advocated for the return of pet grooming professionals and was interviewed by NBC 10 Boston and during the 2020-2021 school year, I homeschooled my 2 kids, in the 5th and 6th grade. In the mornings, we would do academics, and by the afternoon, we were in the grooming van, grooming dogs and interacting with people.

Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber?
I became involved with the Chamber because it is heavily involved with developing communities and supporting businesses. I want to be surrounded by a group of professionals looking to rise up together. Another reason is because of Betsy Crupi. Since the first time I met her, she has always supported me and pointed me in the right direction especially when it comes to the people I should surround myself with. Thank you Betsy and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce!

Tutti Bellissima Inc. was born out of a deep passion to help people feel their most confident and comfortable selves. Old Colony Hospice & Palliative Care was founded in 1979 by Dr. Ruth A. McLain and serves over 60 cities and towns in Southeastern Massachusetts. We are a free-standing, non-profit, Medicare- certified, accredited healthcare organization that provides services through a core staff of registered nurses, social workers, counselors, volunteers, hospice aides, and consultants. From the moment you contact Old Colony Hospice, you will experience a uniquely personal approach that focuses on caring for patients and families in a specialized way. We take a team approach to deliver care to patients and their loved ones, in a dignified experience that respects their wishes at every stage.

What products or services do you offer?
Hospice:

• We provide care for all end-stage diseases, including but not limited to: cancer, heart disease, lung disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, kidney disease, and other life-limiting illnesses.
• Our care is covered under Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, other HMOs, and most private insurances.
• We provide visits from registered nurses, social workers, hospice aides, volunteers, spiritual counselors, and bereavement support counselors
• We pay for medications and equipment that are related to the hospice diagnosis and have it delivered directly to your home.

Palliative Care:
For many people, the diagnosis of a serious illness does not require the comprehensive services of hospice. Palliative care is a specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. It focuses on providing patients with relief from symptoms and difficulties of living with illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the caregiver(s).

We have created specialized programs specifically for the care of our palliative patients and have partnerships with several community facilities to ensure the absolute best care is provided.

We were founded in 1979 by Dr. Ruth McLain in the basement of New England Sinai. A true grassroots effort with Dr. McLain and two nurses volunteering their time to care for those at end-of life in the community. Dr. McLain's dream was to one day have a hospice home. In 2020 her dream care true when we opened the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree. 

Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber?
Old Colony Hospice decided to become involved with the Chamber because we believe in the power of community collaboration and connection. As a nonprofit dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care and support to patients and families, it’s important for us to build strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and leaders. Founded in 1966, Massasoit Community College offers students from southeastern Massachusetts and beyond access to more than 60 associate degree and certificate programs across arts, sciences, applied sciences, healthcare, and technology at locations in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, and online.
