Meet Our 2020 Chair, Renee McInnes

1/8/2020

Our new 2020 Chair, Renee McInnes of NVNA and Hospice
Renee has served as Chief Executive Officer of NVNA and Hospice since July 2016. Renee has over 30 years clinical and management experience in home care and acute care settings. Her tenures at NVNA and Hospice have included vice president of business development, director admissions/marketing, nurse case manager, and Alzheimer’s specialty team leader.  Renee also launched and directed NVNA Works, providing private duty care to the community.

In addition to her NVNA and Hospice career, Renee has been a clinical case manager at Tufts New England Medical Center and a clinical liaison for New England Sinai Hospital.

Since 2016 Renee has served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Board of Home Care Alliance and is an Executive Committee member for the Visiting Nurse Association of New England.  She also serves on the National Association of Home Care Advocacy and Government Affairs Council.  An RN, she is currently pursuing an MBA and is a graduate of the Suffolk University Emerging Leaders Program and Harvard Business School’s Leadership for Senior Executives Program.

What is your favorite thing about your career?
As CEO of an innovative non-profit home health and hospice agency, I am honored to lead an organization that provides much needed services for our patients, in particular, at the end-of-life. The increased use of technology supports patient satisfaction and quality for our patients. The mission remains the same, to care for our patients and the community with the best quality of care possible.  As a nurse, the staff and patients inspire me every day with their compassionate stories of healing and support. The generous donors also inspire me, without them, the Pat Roche Hospice Home would not remain viable to provide the charitable care that is needed for so many.

As our 2020 Chair, what is the one thing you are most looking forward to/hoping to achieve?
As 2020 Chair, my goal is to consistently message to the south shore community the value of the Chamber. Not only for South Shore businesses, but for housing, work force development and our regional economy.  I want the business community to understand how the important work they do supports all of us who live and work here. Another goal is to increase the engagement of the Board members to support the strategic initiatives.

What was the last great book you read? Movie/TV show you watched?
I recently read The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World by Melinda Gates. Her messages are about inclusion, connection, empathy, education, and most importantly not judging others’ cultures and values. She urges readers to help educate women to achieve what is important to them, resulting in their highest quality of life.

She can be reached at [email protected].

Alumni and current cohort of Leadership South Shore spent a beautiful summer evening after work at the South Shore Chamber’s backyard patio. Leadership on the Lawn brought together the alumni from the first two years with the current year to network and catch up with each other.

Leadership South Shore began in 2016 and is modeled after leadership initiatives in other states and was launched here on the South Shore in 2016 by South Shore Bank in conjunction with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.  To learn more about Leadership South Shore, visit https://www.southshorechamber.org/leadership-south-shore.htm

We are so appreciative of everyone who made LiA 2019 - our 8th LiA event - a huge success. We had over 150 students attend and heard from 9 speakers who shared valuable experience, perspective, and advice.

We are incredibly grateful to the support of our sponsors as this is a genuine work of love and everyone involved is passionate about empowering the next generation of young women!  Thank you Eastern Bank, Rockland Trust Company, George Washington Toma & Appliance, Inc., The Woodward School, and Marinelli Law Offices.

The day would also not be possible without Curry College providing space and food, especially Anne Beaumont, Director of Conference Services, who helps guide us through this process.

Thank you to our Moderator, Jill Beresford of Massachusetts Business Development Center, and to all of our panelists:
  • Janelle Woods McNish, Director of Giving and Service, Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare Foundation
  • Donna McNamara, Chief of Police, Stoughton Police Department
  • Christen Faherty, Owner of Christen & Co.
  • Maya Ginns, Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Director for Internal Medicine Associates at Mass General Hospital

And to all of our workshop speakers:
  • A Successful You - Jennifer Earls, Dance with Life Consulting
  • A Financial You - Alyssa McNamara, McNamara Financial
  • A Healthy You - Jen Bolton, DOVE MA

And a HUGE thank you to our fantastic Keynote Speaker Tamara Gardner - Author, Speaker, Entrepreneur, and Owner of Boldly-Branded and TGX Talks.
