The Chamber’s advocacy mission is to:
|
Our legislative agenda focuses on the issues which are important to our members, the South Shore, and will likely be in the forefront of political discussion in the coming year. These include:
Healthcare and insurance costs. Healthcare continues to be one of the most vexing problems for small businesses, citizens and our own economy. With pending changes in the affordable care act we need to continue looking for the proper balance between access, affordability, adequate provider reimbursement and employer costs.
Regulations and taxes. The Chamber believes regulations and taxes can hamper economic growth often without achieving the positive goals assigned to the regulations. We will continue to advocate for a balanced perspective on new and existing regulations.
Employment law. One of the more burdensome set of regulations for small business is costly employment law burdens on small businesses. The Chamber feels these usually are for more damaging to smaller business and will look to balance those or seek small business exemptions.
South Shore 2030. The Chamber has adopted an ambitious regional development agenda. Topics such as Housing, Infrastructure, Water/Wastewater, and Transportation clearly overlap with the advocacy agenda.
