How and when did the company get started?
Union Point Sports was built in 2017 with four fully lit, synthetic turf fields, equipped with playing surfaces for soccer, lacrosse and rugby as well as many other sports. What products or services do you offer? UP Sports offers indoor and outdoor field usage year-round. UP hosts multiple tournaments throughout the year as well as youth and adult programming with youth programs such as a Ninja Warrior and Soccer Rec Academy programs. UP also offers adult leagues for men's, women's and coed soccer. What’s the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors and why? Our bubbles (domes) at Union Point Sports are unique and there isn't another facility in New England that has the amount of space we have indoors during the winter. Having the bubbles puts us in position to host indoor events from November through March. Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business. UP Sports, although only been open for four years, has a rich history! We currently are located in the old South Weymouth Naval Air Base where so many former veterans were stationed for so many years! It's a really cool area and the old Navy buildings and runways are still here! Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber? We decided to become a member of the Chamber because we want to give back to the community! Our goal is to continue to build our business (only 4 years old), expand our reach and increase our brand awareness through working with other South Shore local Chamber members!

Our first office was in Hanson, in 2008. After completing her DMD and residency in Boston, Dr. Freeman took on a dental practice that had been a fixture in Hanson for over 50 years. Over time, we expanded to locations in Cohasset, Abington and Weymouth. What products or services do you offer? We offer general and specialty dentistry through a tightly knit group of doctors who work closely together to create a "dental home" for our patients. Our focus is on whole body health and how oral health enhances overall health. What’s the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors and why? We provide personalized, compassionate care. Our offices recognize the needs of our individual patients and work to create a partnership with them based on compassion, health and great smiles. Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business. Purple is our favorite! It's not only part of our look and feel, but somehow always happened to be present in the offices we have taken on over the years -- whether it was the front door, or some other distinguished feature, we could always tell when an office was the right fit for our team. Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber? As a small business and community member, we truly understand the challenges that we all face and want to contribute to helping others achieve success. We believe that relationships, charity and service are critical for any small business and incorporate those tenets throughout our practices.
![]() How and when did the company get started? In 2009, Matthew Martin and family were living in Northern Minnesota, Matthew serving a church as an ordained Lutheran Pastor. During their first vacation in 5 years, Matthew’s wife had a dream, woke up and said, “We need to move to New England.” Matthew called the New England Bishop of the Lutheran Church and got placed in a church in Quincy, MA. During the first 18 months of his tenure in Quincy, the local Lutheran churches were going through a process called Doing What Matters and pastors were challenged to “go where love leads and serve where love calls”. Matthew had done World Hunger work for 17 years and felt compelled to leave the ministry and work to end hunger in New England. He did some research, met the CEO/Founder of The Outreach Program and started EndHungerNE in 2010 – and has led the feeding over 37 million underserved New Englanders and counting since then. What products or services do you offer? We package 10 different USDA approved meal types for those who hunger in our neighborhoods. The meals are packaged 100% by volunteers and distributed to food pantries, school backpack and similar programs who then distribute the meals to those in need. Funding for the purchase of the raw materials to create the meals is provided through the generosity of companies, organizations and individuals. What’s the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors and why? We are the only meal packaging non-profit that gives 95% of its meals nationwide to local food pantries. EndHungerNE has ten meal varieties to accommodate meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most other similar organizations have one meal type. Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business. Since our start up on the South Shore in 2010, we have fed 4.3 million people in Plymouth County and 705,000 people in Norfolk County - both of these counties served by the South Shore Chamber. Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber? To gain more exposure for what we do to help feed the underserved in our South Shore community (and beyond). And hopefully get more organizations involved in volunteering and funding. There is an ongoing unmet need to eliminate hunger in children and families across the South Shore, Massachusetts and New England!
![]() How and when did the company get started? I started my company in the fall of 2019. Believe it or not, after watching a content creator's video on entrepreneurship, I was inspired to begin this journey for myself. I got to work by learning more about the business side of my counseling industry, did my homework on an LLC, what the requirements are at the state level, set up my business banking with the required documents, found the right office space, and ultimately filed for my business with the Sec of State. What products or services do you offer? My counseling practice offers individual, couples and family, and telehealth counseling services to the public. These services are provided by independently licensed mental health professionals and social workers with vast experience in the field creating safe spaces for clients to best assist with their concerns. What’s the one thing your business is known for, over your competitors and why? My practice statement is that "wholeness is key to wellness." We operate from the standpoint of helping the whole of a person, recognizing that the various parts, experiences and life events, contribute to who someone is in today's time. As such, each client is to be validated by what they bring with them into each counseling session, which makes treatment a more collaborative effort. Tell us an interesting and fun tidbit about your business. While I have an office space in Stoughton, my contractors are fully remote. Thus, with the uncertainty of the pandemic, I have opportunities to connect as many people with care as we can. Also, mindfulness is a big aspect of my company. So, if someone is looking to go into meditation and work on the concept of here and now, we can do that! Why did you decide to become involved with the Chamber? I wanted to get brand exposure to the community in which my office resides and serves, as well as beyond. I want to contribute as much value as I can to this south shore family. |
