    In 2012, The SSYP established The Foundation and entrepreneurial grant program to help develop and support businesses on the South Shore.

    Why?

    There are vast numbers of young professionals in Southeastern, MA, yet an underwhelming amount of young businesses and start-ups forming in the area. The SSYP Foundation is designed to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation through financial assistance, mentorship, and support.

    Who?

    Both For-profit & Non-profit organizations 

    Must be Located/Operating on the South Shore

    In business no more than 7 years

     

    Our Goal

    Our goal is to support entrepreneurship and economic growth on the South Shore by building a grant program designed to help start-up businesses succeed. This program fosters new ideas and innovation and to bring economic development to the South Shore.

    2015

    Rustic Marlin Designs ($5,000)

    The South Shore Young Professionals is pleased to announce Rustic Marlin Designs as the recipient of its 2015 Foundation Grant.

    Rustic Marlin Designs will relocate its headquarters to Hanover over the next several months and use the $5,000 grant toward the purchase of new equipment.  The rapidly growing small business handcrafts custom wooden décor uniquely designed for each customer; its product line is currently sold in several stores throughout the South Shore.   

    “One of the many missions of the South Shore Young Professionals (SSYP) is to fuel the economic development of the South Shore through its Foundation Grant Program; our goal is to support entrepreneurship and encourage economic growth on the South Shore,” said Kaitlyn Litchfield, Executive Director of the SSYP, noting that Rustic Marlin Design’s move to Hanover will generate new jobs and employ residents in the community.

    Once relocated to Hanover, the business is expected to hire 10 to 20 full-time employees and offer internships to local vocational schools, high schools and colleges.

    “We feel so honored and appreciative to be selected as the 2015 SSYP Foundation Grant recipient,” said Melanie O’Neil, Founder and President of Rustic Marlin Designs.  “We look forward to partnering with the SSYP and the South Shore Chamber and partner in striving to make the South Shore the Best place to Live, Work and Play.”
