  • Leadership South Shore is modeled after leadership initiatives in other states and was launched here on the South Shore in 2016 by South Shore Bank in conjunction with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.  This celebrated program selects participants from a pool of applicants and then leads the participants through a 9-month experiential learning curriculum.

    The goal of Leadership South Shore is to transform a highly-motivated group of individuals into a network of leaders with knowledge and commitment to benefit the region. The Program is not a starting point, but rather a process for emerging and established leaders to refine and enhance their commitment to creating positive change in our communities.

    Each year, we select a diverse group of emerging leaders who want to advance both their personal and professional development.  The 2017 - 2018 class has been chosen but we are encourage those interested to submit the application for Year Three.

    Why this Program?

    Leaders and emerging leaders play an important role in the workplace, in their homes and in our communities.  As such, it is important that they be well versed in the opportunities and challenges unique to our region and that knowledge of community issues be channeled into transformative, positive community influence.  Informed leaders make informed decisions. 

    Program Content

    This 9 month long, "thought provoking" community leadership program examines regional issues through the perspectives of experts, on-site visits, readings, discussion groups, and other experiential activities.     Who Should Apply

    Each year Leadership South Shore selects a diverse group of established and emerging leaders to participate in the program. Those who seek to advance their personal and professional development and who want to influence positive change and impact the quality of life in the community, are ideal candidates for Leadership South Shore.  

    How to Apply

    There are 3 steps in the application process:

    1. Interested individuals will complete the application. 
    2. Applicants who are employees will complete the “Applicant and Employer Commitment Form” in conjunction with their employer.
    3. Applicant will submit a Recommendation Letter from their direct supervisor or a professional colleague in cases where applicant is a CEO/Owner.

    After all forms are received, qualified applicants will be invited for an in-person interview. There is a $500 Tuition Fee** to participate which covers all program-related activities and materials, meals during program days, and transportation to offsite programs.
